A troubleshooting setion, allowing you to follow a series of questions to find a specific answer. User guides are also availble for downloading directly from the website. A forum to share news, views, facts and figures about Skype, giving you general information on the service. Skype was created in 2003 by Niklas Zennström and co-founder Janus Friis, also the founders of KaZaA — the world’s most popular Internet software. The Skype Group is headquartered in Luxembourg with offices also in London and Tallinn. Skype is competing against established open VoIP protocols like SIP, IAX, or H.323.
On October 14, 2005, eBay completed its acquisition of the company for €1.9 billion (about $2.4 billion USD) in cash and stock, plus an additional €1.5 billion (approx. $1.8 billion USD) in rewards if goals are met by 2008.
