Who Needs VOIP Training ?

As the popularity of VoIP grows, the need for VoIP training is also increasing. This article discusses the various VoIP Training options currently available, and what type of people VoIP training would benefit most.

If you are a residential user of VoIP, then all the VoIP training you may need can be given to you by your VoIP Service Provider, or the many resources on the Internet that provide good VoIP Information.

Businesses have a greater need for more structured training in VoIP. Employees who use VoIP equipment, and technical staff who install, maintain, and support VoIP systems all may need training.

VoIP Training can either be Vendor Specific or Non-Vendor Specific. Vendor Specific VoIP Training is more technical and is offered by companies such as Cisco and Avaya, and usually leads to some sort of accreditation or certification. This type of VoIP Training will range from teaching VoIP fundamentals leading on to more advanced skills like installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VoIP systems.

If a business is intending to, or has switched over to using a VoIP System, it will need to train relevant staff. Some companies face the issue of determining what staff to send on VoIP Training. The issue can be resolved by first determining which staff currently have skills in related technologies. As VoIP has close links with existing technology, e.g., Internet Protocols, there could be many people just a few steps away from becoming a VoIP expert.

The second type of training is non-vendor specific and usually gives the learner an all-round understanding of VoIP and the issues related to its deployment. This type of training is more suited to company executives who are thinking of deploying VoIP into their business.

VoIP Training can also be given to employees who will be using new VoIP equipment and telephones, and teach them how to use the many advanced features on VoIP systems.
